In addition to strong academics and attendance, applicants are encouraged to demonstrate excellence or potential in up to five areas listed below. Each applicant can choose to submit relevant documentation or creative samples against one or more of the RLS scholarship criteria.

1. Academic Excellence 
   Evidence may include achievement or effort awards, certificates, academic competition results and badges 
2. Athletic Skills
   National or international representation, team leadership (e.g. captaincy), performance statistics, player awards, competition outcomes or coach recommendations
3. Artistic Skills; including Performing and Visual Arts
   Submissions may include images or videos of artwork, performances, exhibitions, or other creative work, as well as honours, recommendation letters, competition outcomes or media features
4. Arabic Skills
   Recognition in Arabic language through awards, certificates, academic competitions or consistent excellence in Arabic subject reports 
5. Entrepreneurial Skills
   Participation in enterprise competitions, coding or app development, product design, micro-credentials, sustainability initiatives, or relevant work experience placements
6. Leadership Skills
   Examples include leading a team, initiating a project or event, holding a school leadership position, guiding a group assignment, or participating in community service
7. Public Speaking Skills
   Involvement in TEDx talks, student council roles, debate competitions, awards or media recognition for speaking engagements
8. Technology and AI Skills
   Evidence of technology and AI based activities such as competitions, micro credentials, application, product design, coding skills, work experience placement and projects

• Each applicant may upload up to 5 separate files showcasing their most relevant and impressive evidence. 
• It is not required to submit evidence for every criteria area; instead, students should focus on the top 5 pieces that best reflect their excellence and potential. 
• All portfolio files should be labelled with the eligibility criteria they support e.g. Athletic Ability.
• Portfolio uploads that are not labelled with an eligibility criteria will not be considered in your application.

The submission platform will provide: 

• Five upload boxes: one for each piece of evidence 
• Each upload includes a short description box (max 100 characters) to explain which eligibility area it supports and why 
• Example: “Highlight reel showcasing football skills, supporting Athletic Ability” 
• Accepted file types: JPEG, MP4, MOV, or PDF 
• Maximum file size per upload: 10MB 
• We encourage families to help their child select and present high-quality, meaningful evidence that truly reflects who they are as a learner and future leader.

The scholarship is open to high-achieving UAE Nationals and Residents entering Years 7–9 in the 2026/27 academic year, who demonstrate academic excellence, strong attendance, and personal potential across one or more portfolio areas.

RLS follows an enhanced version of the National Curriculum for England, adapted to reflect the values, identity, and context of the UAE. It includes IGCSEs, IA-Levels, BTECs, Arabic pathways, and project qualifications.

The Year system is used in British curriculum schools and runs from FS1 to Year 13. The Grade system (Pre-KG to Grade 12) is used in UAE Federal, American, and Canadian schools. Both systems lead to graduation at the same age; moving from Grade to Year does not result in extra school years.

Yes. RLS operates two distinct sites: one for girls and one for boys. Both are purpose-built and offer tailored learning environments while sharing a unified culture of excellence, values, and collaboration.

Yes. While scholarships are awarded in good faith, students are expected to maintain high academic performance, strong attendance, and positive behaviour. Failure to meet these expectations may result in a review or withdrawal of the scholarship.

The scholarship is automatically renewed each year, as long as the student continues to meet academic, behavioural, and attendance expectations. There is no need to reapply annually, unless concerns arise.

Yes, there is a non-refundable application processing fee of AED 2,100. This fee covers the cost of reviewing and processing your child’s application.

Yes, students applying from American curriculum schools are required to submit their most recent MAP (Measure of Academic Progress) report as part of the application. This helps our academic team assess alignment with the British curriculum and ensure appropriate placement.

No, RLS does not offer transportation services. Parents are responsible for arranging their child’s commute to and from the school.
